WATCH: Vermes talks Palmer-Brown's return to Sporting KC, playing time

Erik Palmer-Brown is back in Kansas City after a year-long loan to Porto, where he played exclusively for the club's B-team, a move that surprised many after the 19-year-old Lee's Summit, Missouri, native showed well in helping the Portuguese giant's developmental squad to its first second-division championship last May.

Ahead of Saturday's home opener against FC Dallas, Sporting Kansas City manager Peter Vermes discussed just how big of a factor that loan played in seeing Palmer-Brown mature on and off the field.

On the field, Palmer-Brown impressed during the club's preseason, leading many to wonder how he will factor in the 2017 campaign. In the same interview, Vermes spoke about the newly crowned CONCACAF U-20 champion (and Golden Ball winner as the tournament's best player) realizing his potential and what it means for his minutes moving forward.
